Work in Progress

What isn't a "work in progress"? Even when something is 'done', it's just done for now. I may make it again and again refining some details born from observation of the original 'done' thing. And I, myself am always changing, shifting, noticing and changing again.

I'm sharing with you some works in progress today. After my class session ended last week, I took myself to my family home in Cape May, NJ for a few days. I sat, staring at the ocean for long and long. That stillness fed me. Once back at the house, I pulled up a card table by the large fireplace and sat with some clay and water. I started making candlestick holders with a general idea and an open mind and heart. So we sat there, me and Creativity and played together. These will look very different once they've been decorated and fired. But for now, here they are in their raw state.

I hope that you'll mark your calendars and come visit the studio December 7th or 8th. My visiting artists are bringing exquisite, handmade pottery and both animal and human-figurative sculptures to sell. They're also bringing homemade cookies not to be missed!
