New 6-week Class with Lisa Naples added for Session beginning Oct. 20th!
There’s something deeply satisfying about making a beautiful object that also earns its keep in the kitchen. Beginning Tuesday, October 20, we’re offering a new 6-week hand-building class. This class will meet from 10:30am–1:30pm with Lisa instructing.
In this session, we’ll continue building on the fundamentals of hand-building with clay, working with soft-slab construction and coil-pinching techniques to create useful, lively forms.
We’ll make batter bowls, using them as an opportunity to explore the sometimes-tricky art of spouts and handles—how they’re formed, how they function, and how they become an integral part of the personality of a pot.
We’ll also make split serving bowls, wonderful forms that give us plenty of territory for narrative decoration and playful surface work.
And because clay is learned as much through repetition as instruction, registration includes unlimited Open Studio access for the duration of the class. Come back between classes, practice what you’re learning, experiment, make mistakes, and make more pots!
Beginners are absolutely welcome. No previous clay experience is necessary.
Registration includes all materials and use of studio tools, with the exception of clay, which can be purchased at the studio for $15 per 12.5 lbs.
