Wednesday Morning: Animal Sculpture

Course Description

This 10-week class will focus on learning sculptural techniques to enable students to create their own wall-hanging creature. Orienting our animals to the wall allows for more expressive gesture because we’ve taken gravity out of the equation. Without worrying about weight and balance (the same way we would if it were standing), we can take liberties with reality vs. fantasy. To begin, we will discuss, sketch and sculpt a maquette (a small rough sculpture of your concept) to help your imagination come alive. During this session we will look at methods for hanging and how this changes our perspective on our creatures’ gesture and finish. We will learn about hollow forms, solid connections, texture and color. Class runs from 10am-1pm on Wednesdays: Jan. 10 – March 13th Cost is $495 includes everything except clay. Clay is sold by the 12.5 lb block for $14

Cancellation Policy

**PAYMENTS:** - MANUAL payments: need to be paid within a week of registering. - CHECK payments: Pay to "Lisa Naples" at 5 S Harrison St. Frenchtown NJ 08825. - CASH payments: Pay in-person within a week of registering. **CLASS CANCELLATION:** - Full refund if > 2 weeks before start date; half refund 7-14 days before; non-refundable < 7 days before start date. - Lisa Naples reserves the right to cancel a class at any point if registration falls below 6 participants. In this case, you will be fully refunded. **MISSED CLASSES:** - No makeup for missed classes, however, 3 hours of open studio access will be allotted to students who miss a class during a 10-week session.
