2:30pm-5:30pm | Taught by Brian Chen
Available spots
Course Description
Hand-building allows for an incredible amount of creative range. There are no real rules and the potential is endless. This class will cover the basic skills needed to confidently approach each project with room for tweaking and chasing tangential ideas. While this class will mainly be focused on functional forms, non-functional forms are also welcome. The skills covered: coil building, throwing slabs, bisque molds and sculpting solid. We will discuss the relationship between form, line and volume and learn how to refine it all through additive and subtractive methods. The combination of all these skills will open up creative freedom. As you combine these skills, the focus will be on using or tweaking these techniques to bring your creative visions to life. And with a little luck and inspiration you'll end the course with more questions to chase down than when you began. Beginner-advanced makers are welcome! Class runs from 2:30am-5:30pm on Tuesdays. Cost of $495 includes everything except clay. Clay is sold by the 12.5 lb block for $14.
