Head Stories Workshop: Working Larger

Course Description

This Workshop meets Friday and Saturday: July 26+27 and then again on Aug 2nd. Anyone who has taken a workshop with Jeanine before or who has some practical experience in ceramics is eligible to take this workshop. It is NOT for total beginners. We will be working on a larger scale which requires existing skills to build upon. Through the use of hand building techniques we'll create heads/shoulders in clay. Working in kiln fired paper clay, Jeanine will breakdown the face into sections and give students simple instructions on how to create facial features as well as how to finish a small body and a face pot head. On days 1 and 2, we’ll concentrate on creating the figures (which will be bisque fired during the intervening week). On the 3rd day we will learn underglaze layering techniques as well as painting facial details onto the bisque fired work. A glaze firing will finish the work for students to pick up within a few weeks. The firings, clay, glazes and take-home tutorials are included in the workshop fee. Basic tools are provided by the studio however, a list of additional tools will be emailed from Jeanine.

Cancellation Policy

**PAYMENTS:** -MANUAL payments: need to be paid within a week of registering. - CHECK payments: Pay to "Lisa Naples" at 5 S Harrison St. Frenchtown NJ 08825. - CASH payments: Pay in-person within a week of registering. WORKSHOP CANCELLATION (different cancelation policy due to the nature of students traveling distances) Cancelations that take place greater than 1 month prior to a start date are fully refundable (minus a $100 admin fee). Those that come in 2-4 weeks ahead of a start-date are refunded by half. Those that come in w/in 2 weeks of a start date are non-refundable with the following exceptions: illness, accident, death in family. Registrants who fall into one of these noted categories are given a credit for a future workshop of the same or greater number of days.
