July 11th, 12th and 13th, I'll be teaching a workshop titled: Wild Vessels: Animal Flower Holders. Over the years, I've made a LOT of different sorts of holders for flowers. But the versions that involve this internal, stem-holding system are my favorite. They make arranging flowers easy and fun and well, kind of foolproof.
During this workshop, students will learn dart cutting as well as sculpting techniques. We'll decorate with slip and underglaze, use sgraffito where it makes sense and whatever else pops to mind. A basic knowledge of how to roll a decent slab is the only prerequisite for this workshop. With all the advanced techniques being taught, this is the only workshop that is NOT for total beginners this Summer.
We'll have our work cut out to finish these in 3 days so they won't be quite as large or involved as the one pictured. I just haven't made the smaller/simpler ones yet to have a picture to show you but will post that soon as I have some. The principals learned however are represented in the pot shown.
Join me for a fabulous Frenchtown weekend. If you're coming from a distance, check our lodgings page for places to stay locally.
