Course Description

Bev works from her home studio in Hackett, ACT on the slopes of Mt Majura Nature Reserve, where the wildlife fly in and out. Drawing on the birds of the backyard and her concern for the Australian bush, her artworks playfully respond to the interconnectedness of animals, people, and their shared environment. Since graduating from the Australian National University School of Art in 1989, Hogg has been working as a visual artist exhibiting sculptural ceramics nationally and internationally. Her multi-faceted practice includes exhibiting, public art, workshops, and teaching. Notably, her artwork has won several major awards including the National Ceramic Award, The Canberra Circle Visual Art Award, and the Doug Alexander Award. Her work is included in public collections throughout Australia such as Parliament House, Artbank, Goulburn Regional Art Gallery, Canberra Museum and Gallery, and the ACT Legislative Assembly. Hogg’s artworks grew from valuable experiences and opportunities worldwide, including the Creative Arts Fellowship and artist-in-residence programs at The Tree Museum, Ontario (Canada), the Australian Council Barcelona studio, the Vancouver Art Centre, Albany (Western Australia), and most recently the CraftACT / Namadgi National Park residency. Namadgi informed her 2024 solo exhibition, *Vanishing*. During this slide lecture, Lisa will give an overview of her long, illustrious career in ceramics. This event is happening the evening before her two-day workshop at the studio. It is included in the workshop fee for those registered, and $10 for the evening alone. The gathering will be a potluck dinner, followed by time for a Q&A after the lecture. It will be held in Kintnersville, PA, in the gorgeous barn of a studio member (about a 15-minute drive from Frenchtown). The location will be emailed to all registrants.
