About the event
Across art history, gold has long represented what is sacred and precious. Drawing from this symbolism, Lisa Naples’ most recent group of abstract and representative sculptures are literally and metaphorically grounded in this material. With either 2-3 chimney-like openings or 2-3 hares facing towards or away from one another, these sculptures explore the wide range of human experiences lived within and outside one’s self. They also point to the fact that regardless of whether we're caught in the ego-mind or fully embodied in Presence, our Being is held by the Sacred. In moments of tenderness or estrangement, Naples’ works invite viewers to understand these experiences as ones still grounded in gold.
